SOUTH Gloucestershire Council is calling on residents to recognise the unsung heroes in their communities.
Nominations are now open for the 2026 Chair’s Community Awards, which celebrate the contributions of unpaid volunteers and community groups who make a positive impact across the district.
Councillor Katie Cooper, chair of South Gloucestershire Council, said: "Do you know someone who gives their time freely to help others?
"Someone who is making a real difference in South Gloucestershire with their selfless work and dedication?
"Now is your chance to recognise their amazing contribution."
Categories include: climate and nature champions, reducing inequalities, supporting children and young people, wellbeing and independence, and building better communities.
The awards ceremony will take place in January 2026.
Councillor Cooper said: "These awards acknowledge the valuable contribution local volunteers make to life in South Gloucestershire.
"Start thinking now about who you'd like to nominate."
Nominations can be made via the South Gloucestershire Council website.
The deadline for nominations is Friday, December 5.
