A MAN who drove while disqualified and had traces of cocaine in his system has avoided jail.
Ashley Donnelly, aged 36, was caught driving a Volvo V50 on the A419 at Stonehouse on April 23 this year.
Donnelly, of Draycott, Cam, was nearly five times the legal limit for controlled drug benzoylecgonine, a metabolite of cocaine, and was banned from driving at the time.
He gave a reading of 240 micrograms of benzoylecgonine per litre of blood - the legal limit being 50 micrograms per litre of blood.
Donnelly appeared at Cheltenham Magistrates Court on November 6, where an eight week suspended prison sentence was imposed.
It means Donnelly will not be jailed unless he reoffends within the next 12 months.
He had been charged with two offences - both driving while disqualified and driving with a specified controlled drug above the legal limit.
