A YATE man has been charged with driving while over the limit and without insurance.

John Kerley, aged 38, is accused of driving in Nicholls Lane, Winterbourne on October 20 while more than twice the legal alcohol limit.

Kerley, of Tyndale Avenue, Yate, gave a reading of 95 micrograms of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath - more than twice the legal limit of 35 micrograms.

He is also charged with driving without insurance.

Kerley appeared at Bristol Magistrates Court on November 14, where he was released on unconditional bail pending another appearance at the same court on January 9.

He is expected to enter pleas to both charges at the hearing.
