A MOTORIST has been charged with being over the limit in a sports club car park.
Josh Hemper, aged 36, was arrested on Sunday, March 2 this year after giving a positive breath test while being in charge of a Ford Focus in the car park of Cam Sports Club in Everlands.
Hemper, of Ryder Close, Norman Hill, Dursley, gave a reading of 94 micrograms of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath - more than twice the legal limit of 35 micrograms.
He was subsequently charged with being in charge of a motor vehicle while above the alcohol limit.
Hemper appeared at Cheltenham Magistrates Court on November 10, having pleaded not guilty at a previous hearing.
He faces a trial at the same court on February 4.
Being in charge of a motor vehicle while above the alcohol limit is a criminal offence in the UK, even if you are not actually driving.
A person is considered 'in charge' if they have control of the vehicle - such as sitting inside it, holding the keys, or being close enough to drive.
