A SOUTH Gloucestershire route is set to close for five days due to investigations into subsidence.

Starting on December 8, Foss Lane in Oldbury-on-Severn will be closed 24/7 for geotechnical studies 'to try and determine the cause of the issue and a workable solution.'

Large cracks in the southbound lane appeared earlier in the autumn, resulting in temporary lights being installed as an immediate response.

The upcoming investigations will include a series of deep trial trenches and soil testing, as officials look to solve the underlying problems.
