A HARPIST gave a candlelit carol concert at a South Gloucestershire care home.
Professional harpist Julia Hammersley treated residents and guests at Lovell Place in Patchway to an afternoon of live music, performing Christmas classics including Silent Night.
The event was part of the home’s seasonal programme of activities.
Jenny Smith, an 83-year-old resident, said: "Julia plays so beautifully; it was absolutely magical.
"The music really started off Christmas season and lifted everyone’s spirits.
"We’re all feeling festive now and very much ready for Christmas."
Residents and guests from across the community were also treated to a selection of festive refreshments, including homemade focaccia, a cheese platter, mince pies and mulled wine.
Vicky Green, wellbeing and lifestyle coach at Lovell Place, said: "Christmas can be a very emotional time as people think back over the years at talk about their memories.
"The concert was lovely as it brought us all together and we were able to experience something truly beautiful in a magical setting."
