POLICE have launched an appeal after a man in his 70s died in a road accident involving a car in Downend.

Emergency services were called just before 4.30pm on Monday, February 9 to North Street after a collision involving a blue Citroën DS3 and a pedestrian.

The man died at the scene.

Formal identification is yet to happen, but his family is aware and is being supported by officers.

Police are asking anyone with any information, particularly dashcam footage, to come forward.

The road reopened by 12.30am on Tuesday, February 10.

Officers spoke with the driver but made no arrests.
