DURSLEY Rotarians are backing a retired vicar's 700 mile walk for charity.
Long-distance walker and Rotarian Dave Foster, 71, will be passing through Gloucestershire to raise money for ShelterBox, a disaster relief charity that responds to emergencies like earthquakes and floods.
Mr Foster's current walk, which he began in Land's End, aims to raise £20,000 for the charity.
He is calling his fundraising as Shelterboots and it is his second long distance walk for the charity.
By Wednesday, May 27, he will have reached Slimbridge, where members of The Rotary Club of Dursley will welcome him.
Rotarians Graham and Chris Peake will escort Mr Foster to the parish church of St John the Evangelist, as visiting churches is a tradition of his during long treks.
The evening will conclude with a meal at the Tudor Arms.
On Thursday, May 28, Dursley Rotarians will join Mr Foster en route to Gloucester, where he will share lunch with Severn Vale Rotarians.
Mr Foster's anticipated endpoint is Marshall Meadows, Berwick-on-Tweed on July 4.
