Jeremy Clarkson has revealed a wish to do "more than anything" before his death.

The Clarkson's Farm presenter, 66, has become an icon on the TV thanks to his vast career in motoring journalism and later on his 1,000 acre Cotswolds farm.

But he also has done several documentaries for TV including The Victoria Cross: For Valour (2003), The Greatest Raid of All Time (2007) and Jeremy Clarkson's War Stories (2011).

However, in his recent Sunday Times column, he revealed there is one more documentary he would like to do before his "dying day".

He wrote: "My favourite explorers though, are those who operated in "darkest Africa" in the late 19th century. Speke. Burton. And even Stanley.

"I want, more than anything, before my dying day, to do a proper documentary on the greatest of all the Victorian explorers, David Livingstone, because I have never, in my life, uncovered a story to rival it."

Mr Livingston explored parts of Africa that were little known to Europeans at the time, mapping large areas and contributing significantly to geographical knowledge of the continent.

He discovered and named Victoria Falls in 1855, which local people called Mosi-oa-Tunya ("The Smoke That Thunders").

He worked as a Christian missionary and medical doctor, establishing missions and travelling widely to spread Christianity.

He also campaigned against the East African slave trade, believing that greater commerce and missionary work could help end slavery.

Jeremy Clarkson has faced a number of health concerns in recent years, the most serious coming in October 2024 when he underwent an emergency heart procedure after suffering what he described as a "sudden deterioration" in his health.

Doctors discovered one artery supplying blood to his heart was completely blocked, while a second was becoming dangerously narrowed. He had a stent fitted and later revealed specialists told him he may have been only days away from a potentially life-threatening heart attack.

The former Top Gear presenter said he first noticed problems while swimming during a holiday, becoming unusually breathless during a short swim.

After returning to the UK, he experienced chest tightness, clamminess and pins and needles in his left arm before seeking medical attention.

Clarkson later spoke candidly about the diagnosis in Clarkson's Farm, telling viewers doctors found significant coronary artery disease affecting all three arteries feeding his heart.

Surgeons were able to avoid open-heart surgery by inserting stents to restore blood flow.

The television star has also previously discussed concerns over high blood pressure and his long-term health. Having once smoked heavily, Clarkson quit cigarettes several years ago and has spoken about making lifestyle changes following the heart scare.

More recently, Clarkson revealed he had been treated for prostate cancer which was detected early and subsequently went into remission.

The diagnosis added to a difficult period that included his heart treatment and ongoing efforts to improve his overall health.
