Stroud Combination Junior Cup Semi-final.

Cainscross 20, Cirencester 2nd XV 30.

CIRENCESTER earned the right to take on Painswick 2nd XV in the Junior Cup Final when seeing off local rivals Cainscross in the semi.

Despite Cirencester having the slope, Cainscross used their larger pack to good effect, scoring three tries in the first half – the pick being a cross-field kick taken over by their winger.

However, towards the end of the half, Cirencester began to find their rhythm with a score from centre Halsey.

A stiff talking-to from captain Ty Stubley saw Cirencester improve in the second period despite playing uphill.

A quick score seemed to get them back on track, although Cainscross came back to lead by 20-10 going into the last quarter.

A try from Hughes and an excellent penalty from Harman saw the deficit cut to two points with less than ten minutes remaining.

With the opposition beginning to tire, Cirencester used their fitness to run in two further tries, the first scored by replacement Reeves after an excellent break by Leadbeater, while fly-half Farrow scored the final try which was converted by Harman.
