THE HEARTBROKEN mother of a Pilning teenager killed while on his moped in Almondsbury has paid tribute to her 'amazing son'.

Seventeen-year-old Luke Davey's promising future was cut short last week when his Honda scooter collided with a Peugeot 206 at the junction of Over Lane and Blackhorse Hill in Almondsbury.

The popular teenager, who lived with his mother and stepfather in Pilning, was in his final year of studying building construction at Filton College.

Luke, an avid Bristol City fan, was also playing for Almondsbury FC under-18s in the Gloucestershire County League and was attracting keen interest from local league scouts.

His mother Vicky said: "Luke was the most amazing person you could have ever met. He was such a happy person and so full of life.

"He was very family orientated. He would go and watch City with his grandad and brother and me. Then on Sunday his sister and I would go and watch Luke playing football. That was how our weekends were spent, revolving around him.

"Everybody who knew Luke has a different story to tell. But the main thing is that they all love him and he has given them all some great memories.

"He was one of a kind and I know I am proud to say he was my son and I am the proudest mum alive."

Following Luke's death dozens of floral tributes, including England and Bristol City flags, have been laid at the scene of the accident.

At Olveston Primary School, where Luke once attended, a tree is to planted in his memory on the school grounds.

Peter Wike, head teacher at the school, told the Gazette the whole school was in shock over Luke's death.

"Luke and his brother attended the school and his mother worked so we are close to the family," he said.

"We were absolutely stunned to hear the news. I knew Luke to be a very happy and funny boy who would go out of his way to help his mother in the school.

"He also loved his football and was a keen member of our team. He will be badly missed by everyone in the community.

"It is important to remember one of our most popular pupils and give a reminder to others to be extra cautious on our roads."

Luke's funeral will take place at St Mary's church in Olveston on August 1.

It will have a red and white theme to coincide with Luke's love for Bristol City.
