WIND farm campaigners celebrated victory today after permission was refused for four turbines in the Berkeley Vale.

Members of Stroud District Council’s development control committee voted seven in favour of refusal and two against when discussing the application for a wind park on the A38 near Stinchcombe.

Member of the Save Berkeley Vale campaign group Jack Sant said: "Of course we are thrilled with the result but we are disappointed this application was ever pursued in the first place. We are confident if this goes to appeal it will be dismissed because it is the most inappropriate place for a wind farm."

However the applicant, green-energy company Ecotricity, based in Stroud, said it would definitely be appealing against the decision.
