THANKS to Dursley Lions, allotmenteers at the Vale Community Hospital now have somewhere to grow on and overwinter plants and seeds as well as take a well-earned rest.

The Lions Club have funded the provision of a polytunnel for use by those people using the raised beds in the hospital grounds, and have also provided a bench, made from  recycled plastic.

John Toffi, Dursley Lion and member of the garden club at the hospital, said that there are 26 plots available of which eight are reserved for NHS patients as prescribed by their doctors. All the beds are suitable for wheelchair users.

There is a great sense of community on the site, explained John, which will be enhanced by the much appreciated Lions' donation.
