IMAGES have been released of a man who police would like to speak to after shops across Gloucestershire have been targeted in series of distraction thefts.

Police have released images of a man they want to speak to in connection with the crimes which have been besetting the county for the last four months.

The latest incident happened in Stonehouse at around 1.30pm on Friday, 1 June.

A man entered a shop in High Street and told the assistant that his grandmother had left her red Versace coat there on a previous visit, and that he had been told by another member of staff that it was there waiting to be collected.

When the assistant returned from looking for the coat and she found that the man had gone, and cash had been taken from the till.

The man is described as being white, mid to late twenties, 6ft 2ins tall with short ginger hair. He was wearing jeans, a dark top and glasses.

Similar incidents were reported in Gloucestershire in March and Bourton on the Water in February.

Anyone who recognises the man , or has any information which would help with the investigation, is asked to call Gloucestershire Constabulary on 101 quoting incident 265 of 2 June.
