A RIDER was thrown from their horse after being spooked by a group on motorbikes whilst riding in a beauty spot near Wotton under Edge last night.

The horse rider was riding their mount alone through Westridge Woods just before 9pm yesterday evening when a group of teenagers approached the pair on what appeared to be off-road motorbikes.

It is believed that the size of the group and speed of their approach spooked the horse, who then threw its mount and bolted.

Luckily the rider suffered no injuries and the horse returned to its stables.

The group of teenagers are thought to have entered the woodland from the old London Road area.

Police are appealing for anyone who may have witnessed the incident to call 101 quoting incident 479 of 11 June.
