OBVIOUSLY Welbeck Developers and their associates want to win you over to their short-sighted 350 home development.

They may well pick Easter time to send in their outline planning application as it will coincide with the school Easter holidays when they hope there will be fewer written objections as a large number of parents will be on holiday with their children.

Once they have won outline planning permission I predict they will change their original planning proposals and you will be powerless to stop them.

Developers employ media experts to put their messages across.

It wasn’t a coincidence they managed to have a prominent section in the Gazette attempting to allay your fears.

The location for Cleve Park is simply the worst for many reasons. This is one of them:

The traffic from the housing estate will have to join Morton Way or Grovesend Road to exit onto the A38.

You can imagine what awful effects this development will have on the traffic numbers queueing to join the A38.

Every person visiting Thornbury will be confronted by a huge housing estate as soon as they turn onto the Grovesend Road from the A38 .

It will make up everyone’s first view of Thornbury whereas, at the moment, you are greeted by lush green fields and trees stretching down as far as the immaculately cared for council roundabout flower display.

You must ask yourself what kind of impression would you like to stick in the minds of future visitors to Thornbury.

Do you want your children to have to put up with all the noise and inherent dangers from all the extra vehicles?

Welbeck are unable to wave a magic wand to sort out the future traffic chaos but they would like you to believe they could.

Be ready before Easter to send in your objections by email or letter to South Gloucestershire planning department.

Countryside is fast disappearing. If you value it, preserve it.
