HUNDREDS of people flocked to the Sodbury Vale Model Railway exhibition in Yate.

The annual show took place on Saturday at St Mary’s Church.

The event saw a new 2018 exhibition, with modelling demonstrations, trade and society stands and refreshments throughout the day.

Secretary of the Sodbury Vale Model Railway Club, Tim Crockford, said: “The show went really well. We had around 700 people through the doors, which included lots of families.

“This year’s exhibition featured 14 layouts from some of the best modellers in the local area and the South West.

“We make sure we cover all scales and all eras, so there’s something that appeals to everybody.”

One of the highlights of the day was a 1980s lay-out entitled ‘Oxford Road’, which included a tube train running underground.

“We also had models of stations going back to the steam era, which some of our older visitors like to see, as it reminds them of the trains of their childhood.”

For the last 34 years, the club has organised an annual model railway exhibition as a way for the club to promote the hobby and show its work as well as that of other invited modellers. Details: sodburyvalemrc.co.uk
