LEE DUNHAM clinched his fourth AMCA British Championship title at Norley, writes Mike Wood.

The Maxxis Kawasaki by LPE rider from Wotton-under-Edge required only a top 20 finish in moto one to win the MX1 class.

Dunham was pushed slightly wide on the first turn in the first race to slip to seventh but got his head down and began to work his way up the leaderboard, picking off riders one by one.

In the closing stages of the race Dunham was still strong producing a classy performance that sat him on the rear wheel of Brad Oleary.

A back marker was the only interference stopping Dunham from making the dream race, but second place was enough for the title.

Although celebrations were going on back at camp Dunham, he was set on moto two, sporting his new number one red plates.

Initially getting out of the gate like a rocket, something happened to drop Dunham mid pack around the first corner.

Dunham caught and passed many riders before cruising to a fifth-placed finish.

With the track at its roughest, karliest and sketchiest in the final race, Dunham was hopping, tyre tapping and jumping pretty much every bump on the circuit, making a rough circuit look smooth and gave a lap of honour at the end of a a truly dominant and fantastic year.

Dunham said: “Today was all about enjoying every minute of it.

“My first race was for the many supporters that came up and cheered me.

I came from nowhere really and almost made it a race win. Who cares though, we’re champions again.

“As always my Maxxis Kawasaki by LPE was outstanding and I couldn’t have achieved half as much without the teams and all our sponsors’ support, my family’s support and also the people that hang over the fence cheering me too.

“Once more it’s another dream that’s come true.”
