THORNBURY RUNNING Club’s Clare Demarquet and Ros Rowland made their second appearance in the dark at the Rogue Runs Night Race at Beechenhurst in the Forest of Dean.
The two-lap, six-mile course course included some wide forest tracks with plenty of small paths, pleasant undulations and some corridor-taped dense forest sections.
Demarquet was 31st overall in 57:38 and third senior female. Rowland was 35th at 59:53, but first in her VF50 category.
There was a field of over 850 at the popular Boxing Day run at Clevedon.
The first Thornbury runner home over the four mile course was Wilf Burke, 92nd place in 25:28 and second in the MV60 category.
Fiona Eatherington had a fast time of 27:13 in 160th place.
Richard Phillips and Sandra Webber ran together to finish in 31:28, leaving Ross Phillips unable to keep up with his dad, to complete the race in 34:40.
Richard Illingworth was close behind at 34:51 with Janet Gaze sixth FV60 in 37:57.
The journey to Little Stoke parkrun was dark and wet on Saturday but thankfully the sky lightened and the rain stopped in time for the start.
Ben Toomer, a Thornbury runner though representing ICL, had the only club personal best of the day, finishing first overall in 16:29, the seventh fastest time recorded over the course.
Kevin Arnold in 20:45 was three seconds slower than last week as was Judy Mills at 25:45.
Hugh McPherson was first to finish in the Vet 60-64 category, though running below his best in 22:26. John Francksen was happy to run with daughter Lizbeth, home for Christmas, with his time of 37:43 being immaterial.
