Del Gannon XI (262-5) beat Kingswood (115) by 147 runs
SINCE teenager Del Gannon's tragic death 25 years ago his Charfield team mates have played his other team, Kingswood, for a splendid trophy, presented by his father, Tony.
With his contemporaries now middle-aged, Sunday saw the last ever such fixture.
Putting in the Del XI might have seemed Kingswood's good choice.
Numbers two to five – Nick Terrett (27), Sean Dix (15), Tim Carter (4), and Nick Bennett (16) – were back in the pavilion.
Number six, Matt Hutley finished 13 not out.
Number one, Mike Colborn, missed twice in seven balls, had been bowled by 14-year-old Harry Green's first ball.
Unfortunately for Kingswood he had just reached 156 and the side 262-5.
Rolling back the years, Del's middle aged pals were just as good with the ball.
Three wickets each to Hutley and Colborn, two to Chas Walwin and one each for Mark Young and Rob Burner skittled out Kingswood for 115.
Del would have been proud as his mates secured permanent possession of the trophy.
