Stroud League Division Two
Stroud United 1 Charfield 2
CHARFIELD got back to winning ways after beating a determined Stroud United side in a scrappy match.
The first 20 minutes saw an even contest with Charfield trying to play a passing game, while Stroud were happy to play the long ball.
Charfield felt they should have had a penalty in the 23rd minute for handball.
They took the lead three minutes later when Phil Miles played a ball to Simon Miles, who skipped past two defenders and drove a shot to beat the goalkeeper.
Charfield continued to create chances early in the second half with Liam Wood going close with a header and Joel Stoneman and Shaun Bath both working the 'keeper.
With 25 minutes to go Stroud equalised from a cross that was headed in giving Craig Bond no chance.
As the game headed into the final 10 minutes, a quick clearance from 'keeper Bond reached Simon Miles. He found Wood, who crossed for Zach McAllister to bury the ball into the back on the net from 16 yards out.
