Gloucestershire Northern Senior League Division Two
Wotton Rovers 2 Leonard Stanley 1
A BRACE from Lee Williams made it seven wins from seven at home this season for Wotton following victory over Leonard Stanley on Saturday.
Wotton broke the deadlock when a delectable ball into the box was chested down by Williams in tight space and he followed up with a swivel volley past the away keeper.
As the players ran back to the halfway line the flag was raised for offside, but the referee overruled the linesman and awarded the goal.
Williams extended the lead shortly after following some determined play by midfield pairing Asa Cox and Benny Smith.
Cox won the ball back and rolled into the path of Declan Frost, whose first time ball to Williams sent him on his way to produce a perfectly placed curler into the bottom corner.
The Leonard Stanley front men never gave up and were rewarded for their tenacity with a headed goal from close range.
