YATE Town manager Paul Britton has been told he has the backing of the board of directors after the Bluebells’ disastrous start to the new Evo-Stik Southern League Division One South and West league campaign.

Yate are yet to pick up a win and have only one point out of the 18 they could have taken over the last month.

In all, the Bluebells have lost six out of their seven games in August, which includes an early exit from the FA Cup.

Britton has spoken generally with the board and will meet with senior members tonight (Thursday).

But director Lawrence Wortman stressed that Britton’s job as manager at the newly-renamed Jelf Stadium is safe and the discussions will be more about how to help him turn things around than any sanctions.

Wortman said: “The manager has our full backing and support. We are looking to increase the budget to provide the resources needed.”

Wortman also stressed that Yate’s displays on the pitch have not deserved their position in last place in the table.

“Performances overall have not been that bad,” he said.

“We have not got results but I think they will come.”

Yate have not been helped either by the loss of two players Sacha Tong and Camen Harvey to long-term injures in the past weeks.
