Stroud and District League
REIGNING Stroud and District League Division One champions Thornbury A began the new season with two matches in two days.
Last Tuesday, they visited Yate and, thanks to maximums from Dave Reeves and Julian Elsbury, Thornbury A came away with a 7-3 victory.
The following night they entertained Woodchester B and, with a different three players, finished with the same 7-3 result, with Anthony Kent scoring a maximum.
Yate played their second match of the season which ended in a five all draw at Frampton A, Andy Cox scoring a maximum for the visitors.
Meanwhile, in division two, Dave Pugh scored three points but could not prevent Nailsworth A losing 7-3 at home to Thornbury B.
Thornbury C, in division three, had a comfortable 8-2 victory against the visiting Phoenix D, Stephen Biles and Viv Wilkie both going unbeaten.
And, in division four, Nailsworth B had “new boy” Alun Davis to thank as they beat the “new side” Thornbury D as he scored a maximum in their 6-4 win.
