AS expected, it’s been a tough week on the road for City.

There have been some glimpses of much improved performances though, but without the results we perhaps deserved.

At Derby County last Saturday, City came absolutely flying out of the blocks and played the best football we’ve seen from the lads this season.

New boy Matty Taylor opened his account for the club with a poacher’s finish on 14 minutes.

Taylor turned provider on 27 minutes. He received a delightfully disguised through ball from Brownhill and clipped the ball into the six yard box for Abraham to blast his 20th goal of the season high into the net.

Abraham grabbed his 21st goal shortly after with Bryan’s low ball into the box being directed into the path of Abraham by Taylor.

The first half rout was complete! But unfortunately over the past few months this City side has shown that it knows how to throw away a lead. Bent got a goal back for Derby early in the second half but then City really should have put the game to bed.

Bryan drilled the ball into the six yard box and Taylor contrived to put the ball over the bar from a few yards. By the time Ince had grabbed a second for Derby on 74 minutes there was an air of inevitability that the comeback was on for the home team.

Sure enough, it arrived with ten minutes to go, though in controversial circumstances as the penalty award against Golbourne looked very soft. Bent converted and the game finished 3-3.

On Tuesday night, City played Leeds United at Elland Road. Again, there was much to be admired in City’s performance and the home goalkeeper was the busier of the two ‘keepers on the night.

But City again showed they have a soft underbelly and could not keep the goals out in a 2-1 defeat.

Next for City is a home game against Fulham next Wednesday (7.45pm) where we’ll be looking to replicate our excellent win at Craven Cottage back in September.
