Dursley Ladies 3 Avonmouth 0
DURSLEY Ladies have been crowned Berkeley League Division Three champions and are certain of promotion with a game to spare.
Once again the usual defence of Erin Robinson, Linzi Moulder and Clare Rodgers was solid with stand in keeper Ali Dolbear a mere spectator for the whole game.
Up front Maddie Tuck was in good form with a clever run only to shoot wide then forcing a good save from the visitors keeper.
Eventually pressure told and Karis Longden got the final touch in a crowded goal area to put Dursley ahead.
It was Tuck who then cracked home a shot following a short corner to double the lead.
Dursley still kept most of the play in the Avonmouth half and Chloe McGregor scored from a wide angle just inside the far post. Although Avonmouth had more possession for a short period the score remain at 3 – 0 at half time.
The second half followed the same pattern with Nadia Mellerup also playing well in dfence and Longden and Kirstie Weyman controlling the midfield.
The Avonmouth keeper successfully kept out many shots. Chloe Stevenson made a strong run in the D only to be thwarted by the keeper. Pip Spyvee was a constant threat to the visitors defence.
Dursley’s final game is at Thornbury Castle School. It is hoped local supporters will make the trip to cheer on the champions.
