CITY remain outside the Championship drop zone by a point despite two shocking results on the road in the past week.

It’s not just the results that are cause for concern though as the performances against Brentford last Saturday and at Preston North End on Tuesday night have been embarrassing.

It is becoming increasingly apparent that despite the excellent win against Huddersfield just over a fortnight ago the players have downed their tools for this manager and are not inspired to play anywhere near their best football, either individually or collectively, under his leadership.

For an hour against Brentford on Saturday we were second best in every department as The Bees, who have a pretty average record at Griffin Park, dominated the midfield and created chances at will.

Their second goal, scored in the first half, saw several of our players just stand and watch. It was painful viewing.

City did improve in the final 30 minutes and hit the woodwork twice however as has so often been the case this season it was all too little, too late.

On Tuesday night City started ok for the first 20 minutes at Deepdale but after the home side took the lead midway through the first half we crumbled.

All the damage was done in the second period with Preston running out 5-0 winners for our biggest defeat in many years.

I have never known such a groundswell of opinion against the manager and now owner amongst City’s fan base.

There is simply no support left for Lee Johnson, he has presided over a disastrous run of form with a talented group of players and performances have been universally poor.

He has demonstrated nothing to suggest he has any clue of how to turn things around and owner Steve Lansdown continues to let him flounder instead of putting him out of his misery.

City host Wolves on Saturday (3pm) with the West Midlands club having won five games on the spin. Another heavy defeat would come as little surprise.
