Stroud Charity Cup Dennis Mason Section Round One
Dursley Town Res 1 Barnwood United Res 6
DURSLEY’S remaining Stroud Charity Cup game at Painswick will be a dead rubber after Barnwood secured their place in the quarter-finals with their second victory of the group stage.
Town could only scrape together a bare 11 for the fixture, although they showed plenty of character in the first half and trailed only 2-1 until the visitors grabbed a third goal right on half-time.
Jordan Warner had halved the deficit with a lobbed finish on the half hour, but the hosts rarely threatened in the second half as Barnwood comfortably amassed their half-dozen.
It might have been worse for Dursley, but Keith Watson made a string of stops, including a penalty save, while Paul Cook and Jason Rogers worked particularly hard in a defensive cause.
