Premier Division One
Lydney 2 Yate Ladies 1
TEAM Yate got out the blocks well and took the game to Lydney with sustained pressure, whilst nullifying the attacks of Lydney.
Whilst the first half swung both ways Lydney would have been disappointed not to go in to half time 1-0 up after missing a flick.
It must not go unmentioned that said flick came from a much-needed and typically competitive tackle from captain Zoe Vale who once again put body on the line to stop a clear goal.
This tackle typified the heart and strength shown across the pitch and Yate determination and work rate paid off with a well taken goal by Vic Carney.
At 1-0 up the ladies were looking good for the win but were undone by a resolute Lydney who were, as ever, clinical when opportunity arose.
Whilst disappointed not to come away with more from the game the ladies should be proud of what they put in to the game and take every ounce of confidence into next weeks game, an important game against Plymouth Marjons at home.
