CITY made it three wins on the bounce last Friday night with a tremendous win against promotion rivals Sheffield United in front of the Sky TV cameras.

City are now in third place in the Championship table just four points behind second placed Cardiff City.

It has been an astonishing season for City so far, given we were close to being relegated to League One last season.

The players once again showed their grit and determination at Bramall Lane as we endured a tough opening 40 minutes in which the Blades hit the woodwork three times.

We were defending poorly as a team and couldn’t cope with the frantic pace United were playing at. But then City put together a quite brilliant passing move that ended with Paterson crashing the ball home from all of 30 yards to give City an unexpected lead.

That lead didn’t last long though and just three minutes into the second half United broke quickly following a City attack and Clarke was given far too much time and space on the ball.

The powerful forward ran into the City box and thumped the ball past Fielding to draw level. Then a game-changing moment came on 55 minutes. Fleck put in a dangerous two-footed tackle on Smith (who had to go off injured) and was red-carded.

This gave City the impetus they needed to take the game to their hosts. But it wasn’t until the 90th minute that we made the breakthrough. Reid’s swinging cross into the box was met at the far most by Flint whose right-footed shot beat Moore to give City the win.

Next up for City are Nottingham Forest who visit Ashton Gate on Saturday (3pm) before the big one next Wednesday (8pm) when City host Jose Mourinho’s Manchester United in a sell-out Carabao Cup quarter-final match that is being broadcast live on Sky TV.

It promises to be a great occasion for the club no matter what the result is.
