SLIMBRIDGE have been given £500 to help set-up a new under-18 side at Thornhill Park.
The donation has come from the Taylor Wimpey company which has a development at The Halt near Wisloe Road, Cambridge.
The cash will be a boost to give local youths an opportunity to play football and feed into the Swans’ first team.
Linda Morgan, development and fundraising manager at Slimbridge AFC, comments: “Our Under-18s team is the club’s future and will provide us with the next generation of grassroot footballing talent.
“We’re very grateful for Taylor Wimpey’s donation. With its support we can provide kits and equipment for the players as they prepare to compete in the Midlands Floodlit League next season.
“The club is run solely by volunteers and is proudly supported by the wider Cambridge community.”
Charlie Joseph, sales and marketing director for Taylor Wimpey Bristol, adds: “We’re proud to sponsor a fantastic club like Slimbridge AFC. The U18s offers young people the perfect opportunity to take part in sport, stay active and learn the importance of teamwork.”
