Bristol 3 Thornbury 2
Already-relegated Bristol deserved their narrow win over Thornbury.
Izzy Hunter and Amy Horler were prominent in the early exchanges but Thornbury went behind through a well-worked goal from the home side. Alex Arnold scored an equaliser shortly afterwards with a goal following a penalty corner. The home side regained the lead when a defensive error created the opportunity for the goal. Elaine Arnold, Sara Newman and Lou-Lou Taylor dealt effectively with the increasing number of home attacks and Thornbury scored the equalising goal through captain Nikki Bruce, who gave the keeper no chance. Dynamic sisters Carys and Megan Allen were prominent for Thornbury but it was the home side who grabbed the decisive goal with just ten minutes remaining. Thornbury pressed for for an equaliser but despite late pressure, the goal didn’t come.
Thornbury 2nds went down 5-3 against Wotton under Edge 3rds in their rearranged game, with Sarah Lally, Charlie Griffiths and Jess Wilson scoring the Thornbury goals. Thornbury held their annual end of season Junior day last Sunday, when the young players displayed a pleasing number of skills to watching parents and grandparents.
