Earlier this month seven participants of a Tang Soo Do club competed in the World Championships.

Members of Dragon Tang Soo Do Club, that has groups throughout South Gloucestershire travelled to London on August 4/5 bringing a combined three golds, four silvers and 8 bronze medals back to the area.

The event, which took place in the Copper Box Arena within the Olympic Park this time around, will take place in 2021 next. With Malaysia the chosen destination.

The Presidents of Dragon Tang Soo Do, and instructor of the class in Patchway, Chris White revealed his delight at the return in the events.

"This was the first time that six of the team had competed in a World Championship; and they performed brilliantly," he said.

"I'm so proud of them. They all demonstrated great spirit and sportsmanship.

Georgina Hilton instructor of the Severn Beach Club successfully became a World Champion, with Kevin McCormick earning a silver and bronze. Isabel Hardman also brought home a bronze medal.

Georgina also revealed her pride at the achievement; "Everyone was so determined and performed at such a high level.

"To see our president compete was an honour, and such an inspiration to us all. When you practice martial arts you do one day dream of representing your country, and to win gold when it's held in our own country, words cannot describe the emotion.

"Our whole team should be so proud of themselves for representing us, and it's a great honour to be part of such a fantastic association. We have some very talented martial artists."
