Slimbridge preserved their unbeaten home record this season with a last gasp equaliser against Larkhall Athletic.

In a game of two halves Slimbridge gained a point with an 89th minute header from Korey Pring after Lewis Powell had opened the scoring for the Larks.

Larkhall who were dominant in the first half almost took the lead after 10 minutes, Lewis Powell knocking the ball past Eric Edge as he rushed out to meet the striker but the shot was weak and this allowed Christien Turner time to collect the ball and clear upfield.

At the other end Tornado Bello, Dean Turner and Yeshaya Lomotey linked up to force a corner for the Swans, Christien Turner heading over at the far post.

Harry Hope fired just wide form 20 yards for the Larks. On 21 minutes Wayne Nderemani picked up the ball on the left firing in a dangerous cross to Hope whose header came back off the bar with Powell well positioned to head past Edge and open the scoring.

Five minutes later Alex Lambert got a shot away on the right but Edge was there to make the save. Swans were forced into a substitution on 33 minutes when Liam Smith pulled up with an injury and Sam Mendes entered the game in midfield.

Three minutes later Edji Mbunga sprung the offside trap and forced the Larks keeper Shaun Semmens into a save his first real touch of the half. With half time approaching Bello’s shot was blocked by Semmens.

Five minutes into the second half, some good play by Slimbridge in midfield inspired by Dean Turner and Mendes resulted in Lomotey firing just wide.

At the other end Lamberts cross was met by the diving head of Powell but he failed to connect properly resulting in an easy save from Edge. On the hour mark Mendes shot from 15 yards was saved well by the Larks keeper Semmens as Slimbridge started to boss the game as Larkhall sat back on their one goal advantage.

Five minutes later it was Mbunga turn to fire over from the edge of the box after a spell of neat passing from the Slimbridge side. On 75 minutes Edge was on hand to save from Hope after a short spell of pressure by Larkhall.

With the game reaching the end of normal time Mbunga’s cross from the right was headed clear for a corner at the far post by visitors substitute Gary Colborne. Mendes corner on the left was fired over towards the far corner of the box where Pring managed to rise above the players around him sending a looping header across goal and into the net off the left hand post to equalise.

In the four minutes of injury time Slimbridge conceded a couple of corners leaving a nervy finish for the home side who deserved a point from the game on their second half performance.

Next up for 17th placed Swans first team is a long trip to Devon to face bottom of the table Barnstaple Town on Saturday 22nd.
