There was delight for Yate Racketeers Badminton Club's rising young starlet Ethan Maggs who has received the Young Person of the year award at a recent

Ethan had been nominated by his club for the Roy Niblett Trophy which is awarded annually by the Bristol Badminton League award a trophy annually for their Young Person of the Year.

The award is named after Roy, who coached and ran a junior club in Bristol for many years before sadly passing away early in 2017, as tribute and Ethan was delighted to receive this year's award.

Meanwhile, Yate Racketeers Junior Badminton Club are to hold an open day on Saturday, October 6 in a concerted effort to entice more young people to attend their weekly sessions.

The free event is available to children aged between five and 12 of any ability and experience and will take place at Yate Academy, Sunbridge Park between 10-11am.

All coaches at the club are Badminton England-qualified and opportunities are available to progress to local adult clubs.

Yate Racketeers also provide badminton classes for teenagers up to the age of 18 between 11am and 12.30pm every Saturday,
