AFTER a disappointing defeat last week at the hands of title rivals Redland, Thornbury A faced newly promoted David Lloyd Long Ashton A.

Looking to get themselves back on track Jeremy Harris led the team out and bagged an early 3-0 win setting the tone for the evening.

Brothers Sam and Callum Davidson then went on and followed suit both cruising to 3-0 victorys. With Thornbury seeking maximum points Craig Webb stepped up and dismantled his opponent 3-0. This left Johnny Taylor in a perfect position to cement the match and he didn’t disappoint, yet another ruthless 3-0 win puts Thornbury back in the title race with a perfect 19-0 score.

Thornbury B got off to a good start against Redland D with 3-1 wins for both Rob Livingstone and Alex McMillan. Number 1 string Mark Toseland let a 2-1 lead slip away and eventually lost 3-2. Justin Edwards didn't have the answers against his opponent and lost 3-1.

Katrina Burrows played very well and secured the much needed win for the team with an impressive 3-0 victory. Overall a 16-8 win for Thornbury.

Thornbury C were away at BAWA B looking to get themselves off the mark after last week's narrow loss.

Cliff Hall was first on and despite going 2-0 down with a slow start, battled back to a gutsy 3-2 win. Pete Bowen crushed his opponent in a ruthless 3-0 win with Nick Clifton taking his match by the same score. Viv Bailey-Gard was back on form to complete a 3-1 win, however the returning Chris Hutchence found it tough going against his big hitting opponent and lost 3-0. The final match score being 16-6 to Thornbury taking them up to second in the league.

Thornbury D team were away this week playing at Weston Super Mare, Ian Johnson stepped in at number 1 with a comfortable 3-0 win.

At number 2, Nigel Ball had some close games but Harvey Lane was to strong, Nigel going down 3-0. Bill Ellis back in the team at 3 after his cortisone injection narrowly lost 3-2.

Jon Hewitt with his extra long reach managed a 3-2 win and James Jenkins struggled to get going playing at 5 losing 3-0. The overall score being 15-8 to Weston.
