Chipping Sodbury Town Football Club welcomed a Roman Glass side who had so far endured a stop-start season.

The match was started after both sides observed a two minute silence, as is always the case for the match on the weekend of the 11th November.

Sodbury started with a solid back three, in the hope that it would allow players to step in to midfield to stop Glass from dominating.

The first half was without real incident, with co-manager Joe White struggling to make an impact on the match up front.

In midfield, the running of Liam Pullen and Sam Jenkins on the right was causing some problems to the Glass defensive line.

Jack Parker, who had started the match at wing-back had to be withdrawn to injury in a move that saw Joe Shutt make his debut for the first team after playing in the reserves and youth teams for a number of years.

At the back, Luke Burman and James Kenway were playing well to stifle any chances that Glass created.

The home side looked to be missing a spark up front, something which it could be said George Box could have provided.

However, White was working hard to close down the defenders and start pressing from the front.

Without key players, Box and Sean Keet, Sodbury may have struggled. However in the second half they went ahead.

With their first real chance in the opening 20 minutes of the second period, Midfielder Pullen found the ball rebound to him and he smashed it into the bottom corner from the edge of the box to spark jubilant celebrations for the home team and their fans.

Pullen was far more effective in the second-half and could have added another goal to his tally had a free-kick not been expertly saved by the Glass goalkeeper.

Glass missed an open goal after a clipped cross to far post found goalkeeper Tom Shepherd stranded as Sodbury held on for the win.

The Sods now prepare for their next game against Westbury.
