SWINDON Shock made it four wins in a row after a weekend sweep saw them defeat both Bristol Flyers in the league and then Newcastle Eagles in the National Shield, writes JONATHAN LEIGHFIELD.

In their latest league game in National Thee South on Saturday, Ed Potter led the way with 29 points as Shock claimed a 104-94 victory over Bristol at New College.

Mantis Kmita chipped in with 23 points and Antonio Wilburn contributed 22 to help David Colclough’s side move level on points with Team Solent Kestrels at the top of the standings.

Shock stormed into a 31-18 lead after the first quarter, but a second-quarter comeback from the Flyers cut that advantage to just six points at the half.

However, a strong second half from the home team meant that the lead was extended, and they then pushed on again to wrap up a 10-point success over their local rivals.

Building on the derby win when returning to the court in the National Shield 24 hours later, Shock’s leading points scorer, Potter, put on another stellar display as he scored nearly half of his team’s points in a classy 93-79 triumph.

Potter bagged a personal haul of 43, while Kmita and Matt Ford recorded totals of 13 and 10 respectively.

The home side made a strong start to proceedings, racing into a 44-35 lead at half-time before upping their scoring return in the second half, as a haul of 49 helped them to secure safe passage through to the next round of the competition.

Swindon have no fixture this weekend and do not play again in the league until Saturday, December 8 when they travel to Barking Abbey.
