Thornbury 2nds narrowly went down to the newly formed team of Badminton/Pucklechurch 1-2.

In an entertaining game Sarah Brealeys side were handicapped by a couple of injuries which disrupted their play for a short time in the opening half.

Debutants Chloe Fowler and Mandy Briston contributed greatly to a solid home performance with strong displays in midfield for Thornbury and the experienced duo Lauren Lever and Rachel Underwood were a constant threat to the visiting defence.

Charlie Griffiths and Libby Keel also combined well and provided a number of well-timed passes to Amy Long, Daisy Davis and Ellie Coleman up front.

The trio, despite a number of shots, were denied by some fine goal keeping by the keeper.

Hannah Kemp in the Thornbury goal was excellent and denied the visitors on numerous occasions, one save being world class according to captain Brealey.

The Thornbury goal was scored by Lauren Lever whose powerful strike gave the keeper no chance.

Next up for Thornbury is a trip to Avonmouth 2nds on Saturday for their last league game before the mid season break.
