All of Thornbury’s squash teams were in action against a number of different opposing teams.
Thornbury A
Thornbury A team travelled to David Lloyd Long Ashton looking to keep the pressure on the unbeaten outfit.
Returning captain Brad Jenkins started with a hard fought 0-3 loss.
Callum and Sam Davidson both strolled to 3-0 wins and were barely tested. Craig Webb and Johnny Taylor continued in ruthless fashion and both cruised through 3-0 winners.
This meant that the final score of 16-3 secured a huge win for Thornbury.
The A’s are still in with a chance of retaining their title with the crunch game being in two weeks time at home to Harbourside in what will be a tight affair.
Thornbury B
Thornbury B travelled to Redland with just 4 players and needing points to keep their chance of staying in the Premier C division.
Ian Talbot went down 3-0 against strong opposition, Rob Livingstone lost to his opponent taking the match 3-2.
Mark Toseland had another 3-2 grinding battle against the same opponent from their first encounter but eventually lost after a long match and Edwards finished the night off losing 3-1. Overall 19-5 to Redland D.
Thornbury C
Thornbury C team hosted local rivals BAWA B who could only muster 4 players on the night.
Cliff Hall’s opponent was on form and there was little he could do in the 3 games.
Pete Bowen went down 3-1 and Ian Johnson had on off night losing 3-2 against an opponent he would normally dispatch.
Luckily Nick Clifton was on form and ground his opponent down with a 3-0 win.
Overall a 9-9 draw leaving Thornbury in mid table.
Thornbury D
Thornbury D clinched a second win of the season against Weston, Nigel Ball, back in the team, made headway against Harvey Lane taking the first game but losing 3-1 in the end.
Mark Dalziel playing at number two string also lost 3-1, however three wins came from the lower order with Bill Ellis winning his first match of the season 3-1, followed by Graham Dono and Dr Jon Hewitt also taking 3-1 wins, a much needed win for the team lifting them off the bottom of the table.
Final score saw Thornbury D win 15-9 over the Weston-Super-Mare B team.
