Thornbury's Dylan Roberts finished second at the Old Down Santa Run on Saturday.

A horde of runners, many decked out in festive fancy dress, descended around the trails and through the woods of Old Down Country Park which saw four Thornbury runners feature in the two lap 10k event.

Roberts and Brendan Griffiths quickly established themselves at the front of the pack, and it was Roberts who was leading after the first lap with

Griffiths in fourth, chasing a podium place. The experienced Ken Ham from Westbury Harriers, a former Thornbury runner, overtook Roberts on the second lap but it was a close affair with only nine seconds separating the top two. Roberts finished 49:17 while Griffiths finished fourth in 51:28.

Sean Underwood is on the comeback trail and finished 30th in one hour, five minutes, 42 seconds while Rachael

Underwood finished in the top half of the field in 50th place in one hour, 12:06.

Paul Clark ran in The AVR Wiltshire Half Marathon on Saturday, November 24 , which was contested along the country lanes outside Trowbridge where he finished 42nd overall in 1 hour 30 minutes and 13 seconds.

Elsewhere, Henry Orna was in good form at the Norwich parkrun on Saturday, running his quickest time to date in parkrun events in 18 minutes 54 seconds.

Terry Robinson was the lone Thornbury runner at Severn Bridge parkrun, finishing in 47:27.

William Hamilton, Thornbury's recent recruit, showed great promise, finishing in 19:08 at Chipping Sodbury parkrun.

Kevin Wood was next in 22:37, followed by David Palmer - 26:17, Anne Palmer - 32:24 and Pamela Macleod, who knocked off half a minute from her previous best in 33:26.

Kevin Arnold set a much-improved personal best of 22:44 on the Thornbury parkrun course. He was followed by Joanne Emerson who was third woman to finish in 23:55. Ian Shepherd was next in 24:06, Brian Godsman in 24:12, Mike Bennewitz in 25:40 and Peter Blenkiron and 26:52.
