FOREST Green boss Mark Cooper has urged Rovers fans and the town to get behind the club at this weekend's game against Mansfield Town.

Cooper's side are just a point and a place outside the play-offs and victory at the New Lawn would see Forest Green climb into the top seven and leapfrog their opponents.

The Rovers boss has been impressed with the support away from home, particularly away at Yeovil Town but is hoping for a big crowd at home and has called for fans to get behind the team to aid them in their promotion push.

"If you look at the game last week and look at the away following and the noise they made, that had a lot to do with it (the result)," explained Cooper.

"The players have to give the supporters a lift but you look at our last home game and we were two points off automatic promotion and we had 1400 home fans here that were really quite.

"I know it's the players job to try and get them up but we need them. We need the area and the fans behind the players and have as many people in the stadium to get behind their team."

Former Mansfield midfielder Paul Digby, who has featured in all of FGR's games this season, will not face his former club as the Rovers manager confirmed they didn't lodge an appeal against his red card.

Cooper admitted Digby's loss is a big blow but he did have better news on the injury front.

"We're not appealing," he confirmed. "We wouldn't get off it because the footage shows that Digby makes a movement towards there player in trying to release his foot.

"He's a big miss, he brings great energy and he gives us versatility but it's an opportunity for someone else to come into the team."

“Otherwise we are all good injury wise. Everyone’s fit and available for selection."

The Rovers boss is expecting a high quality game against the Stags, who have lost just once all season and also feels they'll be still up their competing for promotion at the end of the season.

“I think it's a brilliant game. I’m looking forward to the game against Mansfield Town because it will be two really good football teams going up against each other," Cooper said.

"I'd describe Mansfield as dynamic all over the pitch which we have to be careful of.

"The manager Dave Flitcroft’s got them really believing and they'll be really confident of securing a promotion spot. We respect what they do and what they've got but we'll look after that and try and play our game as well."

"I think it will be an exciting game."
