YATE Town were knocked off top spot after a disappointing defeat away at Bideford AFC.

Blackfield and Langley capitalised on Yate's defeat with a 4-1 victory over struggling Fleet Town to leapfrog them in top spot by just a single goal.

Yate fell behind after just five minutes. Ian Sampson's ball found Ryan Turner who headed them in front.

Bideford doubled their lead on 22 minutes when Turner got his second when Sampson's shot took a deflection and fell to Turner who reacted and found the net.

The Bluebells came out fighting in the second half and got back into the game a minute after the restart.

Nick Peare burst into the are and squared the ball to Harry Warwick who had a simple tap in.

Olly Mehew was twice denied by Bideford keeper Joe Moore as Yate pushed for an equaliser.

Bideford regained their two goal cushion 12 minutes from time when Turner completed his hat-trick after he was set up by Joe Randall.

In the end, Yate slipped to their third league defeat of the season.
