Olveston continue their unbeaten start to 2019 with a 3-0 away win at Stapleton AFC.

The visitors got off to a blistering start as Rob Latham found space in the opposition box within the first thirty seconds to slot home his first goal for the club after a driving run from midfielder Phil Williams.

Only a few minutes later, the O’s doubled their lead after some good build up play down the left with the ball eventually finding its way to Matty Knight on the edge of the six-yard box to smash home and Olveston took a 2-0 lead into the break.

For the first 20 minutes of the second half, the home side had more of the ball but were restricted to shots from distance.

Greg Welsher in the O’s goal made two fantastic saves, one of which with the slightest of touches preventing the ball hitting the top corner.

With 15 minutes to play, Latham chased down a seemingly lost cause, only for the Stapleton ‘keeper to kick the ball out of his hands right into Latham’s backside and the ball looped over his head and into the net.

A comical goal but just rewards for Latham’s work rate and Olveston withstood late pressure to earn see out the game and keep a clean sheet.
