FOREST Green take on high-flying Bury at the New Lawn on Saturday as they look to cement their place in the top seven.

The Shakers are second in League Two while Rovers are seventh, occupying the last play-off spot.

An intriguing encounter is on the cards, which looks set to be watched by a group of Bolton Wanderers fans as well as FGR and Bury in support of Christian Doidge.

Here is everything you need to know ahead of a crucial game.

Opponent: Bury

Venue: The New Lawn

Kick-off: 3pm

TEAM NEWS

New signing Lewis Ward will compete with James Montgomery for the number one shirt after he signed on a six month loan deal from Reading.

Dayle Grubb missed the trip to Oldham Athletic last week and is facing a spell on the sidelines.

OPPOSITION

Bury won a dramatic seven-goal thriller against promotion chasing Milton Keynes Dons last weekend as Nicky Adams scored a 91st minute winner.

They've lost just one of their last six games and have won three on the spin which has seen them climb to second in League Two.

There home form is exception. They've won 10, drew three and lost just once at Gigg Lane in the league this season.

However, they're not so strong away from home having triumphed just four times out of a possible 14.

FORM GUIDE

Forest Green are unbeaten in six and have won their last two home games.

Bury have won three in a row and have lost just two of their last six away matches in League Two.

Jermaine Beckford is a long term absentee for Bury.

PREVIOUS MEETING

Bury 1-1 Forest Green - Saturday, August 18 2018

Christian Doidge gave Rovers a first half lead before Gavin Gunning got sent off in the second half. Will Aimson equalised for the Shakers in the 90th minute.

PREDICTED LINE-UP

Montgomery, Gunning, Rawson, McGinley, Shephard, Winchester, Brown, James, Mills, Williams, Doidge.

SNJ VERDICT

Rovers will begin a busy period of difficult games against Bury who are absolutely flying.

The two teams played out an entertaining 1-1 draw back in August where they both showed why they are promotion contenders.

Former Rovers left-back Chris Stokes will return to the New Lawn but it's in the attacking positions where Bury possess some real quality with the likes of Jay O'Shea, Nicky Maynard, Danny Mayor and Caolan Lavery amongst their ranks.

They also have plenty of experience with players like Joe Murphy in goal, Neil Danns and Stephen Dawson in midfield so it's set to be one of FGR's most difficult games of the season.

It will be a surprise if Bury sit back and let Forest Green play like Oldham did in the first half last week so it should be an entertaining game.

Rovers, as they have been doing, need to pick up points against the teams in the top seven. One slip up could see them drop out so they need to take points to keep in touch with the top three.
