CHEPSTOW Harriers, Weston AC and Westbury Harriers were the form teams in the Riverbank Rollick, writes Mike Mewse.
Conditions were overcast, but dry for the 9.6 mile multi terrain race, but the strong winds made this a real test of stamina for the 500 runners.
Veteran runners dominated the race, taking sixteen of the top twenty places. Kieron Summers of Weston AC (Male Vet 40) was first home in 1h 3min 06 secs after a battle with Chepstow Harrier’s Paul Murrin (MV45 1.04.04). There was a close battle for the next few places with Chepstow’s Jon Carter (MV50) third in 1.09.01, followed by team mate Rob Pritchard (Sen Man 1.09.21), Weston AC’s Matthew Wheeler (MV45 1.09.25) and Paul Dodd (MV60 1.09.29).
Male team results : 1. Chepstow 2. Weston 3. Dursley
Westbury Harriers Vicky Tester (1.10.57) was in top form, winning the Ladies category just ahead of Susan Duncan, Weston AC (1.11.27) and Chepstow’s outstanding Female Vet 50 Niki Morgan (1.11.42).
Tester’s Westbury Harriers team mates Sophie Voller (1.13.01) and Maria Hobbs (1.20.31) finished strongly to take the ladies team prize ahead of Chepstow Harriers and Weston AC.
