Brockworth 6

Dursley 13

DURSLEY arrived at a very windy and cold Brockworth RFC and returned back down the M5 with a hard fought win.

Brockworth took the lead after ten minutes following the award of a penalty. This prompted a period of play in the home side's half as the Dursley forwards recycled the ball from each breakdown.

After 17 minutes Dursley drew the scores level following a Lennard penalty. Dursley's forwards began to exert their superiority at the scrum, leaving Brockworth with little response, however they regained the lead when Dursley were penalised for holding on.

With the visitors adapting well to the game-affecting conditions, selecting to run the ball across a compressed backline, they made good headway into the home side's half.

S Pinker and Lennard combined at nine and 10 to release J Pinker at 12, who broke through the game line, chipped forward forcing the fifteen to take the ball over his try line. The resulting five-metre scrum found Brockworth in reverse gear, their attempt to prevent a try resulted in a penalty try taking the half-time score to 6-10.

Dursley started the second-half kicking with the wind, intelligently used by Goodison and Lennard to make sure the majority of play took place in the home side's half.

Camm was making his usual barnstorming pick and go from the back of the scrum, Lordy and Plummy gave no ground pushing back attack, and launching their own with powerful forward runs. The game ebbed and flowed within the two twenty-two metre lines, with both sides defending and attacking whenever they could, which provided much entertainment for the crowd of hardy supporters.

Neither side managed to cross the try line, but Dursley extended their lead when - following some indiscipline at the award of a Dursley penalty - the home side were marched back 10 meters which allowed Pinker to step up and slot the three points for a final score of 6-13.

For Dursley this was a one-team performance where 18 players gave their all.
