ALAN Griffin scored half of Cirencester's eight as they destroyed Bideford at the Corinium.

Jack Freeman, Ellis Dunton, Ben Whitehead and Aidan Bennett also netted as Cirencester scored five in the second half.

The result was hard to envisage after the first half which virtually saw five goals from five shots.

Charlie Griffin made three changes to the team that drew with Slimbridge last week.

Ellis Dunton, Adam Connolly and Jordon Morris came in for Will Christopher, Tommy Anderson and Alexandru Albert who has left the Corinium.

The Centurions got exactly the start they wanted and were in front after just eight minutes.

Ben Whitehead did brilliantly down the right and crossed low for Griffin who had the easiest of tap ins.

Their lead lasted just six minutes though as Sean Downing levelled for the visitors with a glancing header into the far corner.

Bideford's reprieve was also shortlived as three minutes later, Freeman danced his way into the area and fired into the top left hand corner.

The entertainment continued as Cirencester scored their third on 24 minutes. It was almost a carbon-copy of their first goal. Whitehead showed great strength as he drove to the by-line and his cut back found its way to Griffin who capitalised on a defensive error to score his second.

Freeman had a chance to put the game beyond Bideford eight minutes before half time but his low drive was well saved by Joe Moore's feet.

That proved costly as a poor clearance fell straight to Ryan Turner worked his way into the box and slotted the ball past Mateusz Wieczorek just a minute before the break.

Cirencester started the second half like they did the first and restored their two goal cushion on 48 minutes. A corner came in and Baboucarr Jarra knocked it down to Dunton who volleyed home.

That seemed to rock Bideford who capitulated in a seven minute spell.

Griffin got his hat-trick on the hour mark as he once again combined with Whitehead who drove down the left and crossed towards the far post for the striker to tap in.

The duo swapped roles when a ruthless counter-attack Griffin set Whitehead free and he bust towards the box and produced a devestating finish into the far corner on 64 minutes, his 33rd of the campaign.

Two minutes later a brilliant move involving Pook and Morris culminated in Griffin smashing the ball home to score his fourth.

The game did settle for a while, Bideford had one or two half chances but Cirencester were in no mood to take their foot off the gas.

The eighth came in the 80th minute. Whitehead tried to work a shot as he danced into the area but he instead found Bennett who slotted home at the far post.

Cirencester have now scored 73 league goals and are back to winning ways after four without a win.
