Highworth 1 Yate 4

Lewis Leigh-Gilchrist made it five goals in two games as he scored a hat-trick to help Yate Town come from behind to beat Highworth Town on Saturday.

Yate fell behind on 35 minutes when Callum Parsons slipped the ball wide to Darren Jefferies who cut in onto his right foot and squeezed the ball between two defenders and into the corner of the net.

The equaliser came on 55 minutes when Leigh-Gilchrist beat his man with a lovely bit of skill before firing a rocket into the top corner from just inside the penalty area.

Eight minutes later, he completed the turnaround for Yate when he darted into the box and slotted the ball into the far corner from the edge of the six yard box.

Yate added a third on 80 minutes when Mikey Bryant curled a beauty into the top corner to give them a two-goal cushion.

Leigh-Gilchrist completed his hat-trick eight minutes later when Olly Mehew knocked the ball through and the Bristol Rovers loanee charged towards goal before he slotted the ball through the keepers legs to round off a brilliant day for Yate who have now won four in a row.

The Bluebells are still second in Evo-Stik Southern League Division One South but remain just a point behind leaders Blackfield & Langley with a game in hand.

Yate are back in action again on Saturday.

They host eighth place AFC Totton who are just four points off the play-off places with a game in hand.
