Gloucestershire FA Women's Challenge Cup Quarter-Final

Dursley Town Ladies 1 Cirencester Town Ladies 2

DURSLEY'S last chance of silverware slipped away as Cirencester got the better of them for the third time in four meetings this season to move into the semi-finals.

The visitors had already knocked Dursley out of the League Cup - after one win each in the league - and did likewise in the second-tier county competition.

Cirencester dominated from the start and had already hit the crossbar - albeit from an offside position - when they took an early lead with a deflected shot.

Although offering little in attack themselves, the home side dug in and weathered the storm, with goalkeeper Vix Thomas making several saves.

Shortly before half-time, however, the goalkeeper was unable to hold a tricky low cross into the box and Cirencester were first to the ball to double their advantage.

With the wind behind them in the second half, though, Dursley were much improved and halved the deficit just five minutes after the turnaround.

Chanelle Uzzell found Charlotte Warren, who turned and played the ball through for Zoe Gabb to advance and lift the ball over the onrushing goalkeeper.

Thomas made further saves to keep the hosts in contention, but their one real chance of an equaliser passed late on when Warren lifted her shot over the bar.
